開催趣旨
広大な東南アジアの熱帯林は、生物多様性が非常に高く、気候変動の緩和と適応に対する影響も大きいことが予想される。しかし、経済開発などによって、この地域の熱帯林は急速に減少または劣化している現状にある。気候変動の緩和・適応、生物多様性の保全、及び地域全体の持続的発展のため、東南アジア熱帯林に対する理解をさらに深める必要がある。本シンポジウムは、東南アジア熱帯林を対象として先進的な研究を進めている国内外の研究者を招き、気候変動に関わる温室効果ガスの観測的研究をはじめ、気候変動の緩和・適応、生物多様性保全、生態系の持続的利用などについての研究の最新動向に関する情報を共有するとともに、東南アジア熱帯林に関する今後の研究展開の方向性について議論を行う。
