Identification key

Bdelloidea

From Kuniyasu

Body cylindrical, highly contractile, and telescopic. Free-swimming or with leech-like creeping movement. A dorsal proboscis present. Toes, when present, usually retracted within foot except when creeping. Two nonretractile spurs usually present. Mastax ramate. Males absent. Reproduction entirely by parthenogenesis; oviparity or viviparity. Each ovary with a vitellarium.
