Lorica composed of one rigid piece, body not laterally compressed. Surface of lorica marked with ridges. Corona without frontal palps but with two unique juxta-buccal protuberances. Foot composed of two telescoping segments and emerging from an oval opening in the lorica. Mastax virgate but not adapted for prehension. In acid waters. (ref. ID; 1663)

Corona with large prominences lateral to mouth. Anterior dorsal margin of lorica notched permitting emergence of antenna. Lorica marked with small areolations and several light ridges but not grooves. (ref. ID; 1923)

Characters of this species are the structure of the asymmetrical mastax and the presence of a cephalic palp and of a tubercle on the toes. (ref. ID; 1448)
