Lorica stiff, relatively high, with anterior and posterior spines, with or without a dorsal pattern of facets. Foot terminal, pseudosegmented, with almost totally fused, subequal unic teeth, proximal cavities of manubria closed, anterior processes on rami present. Shaft of manubrium nearly straight. Eye present. The name Plationus, by combining elements of both, alludes to the confusion between Platyias Harring and Brachionus Pallas. The gender of the name is masculine. (ref. ID; 953)
