Descriptions

This species has a superficial resemblance to Filinia, especially to brachiata Rousselet, 1901 so that it has been treated until today under the genus Filinia. It is, however, fundamentally deviated from Filinia in such characters as 1) features of frontal margins of the lorica, 2) structure of spine base, 3) position of cloacal opening and 4) behaviour of egg-carrying. Of these, (1) and (4) are allied with Pompholyx (cf. Gosse's thread, sheath for thread, a pair of style glands, a pair of cloacal glands, etc.). For this reason, camasecla should be treated under the different genus. Thus, new name Parafilinia was proposed by Sudzuki (1989, p.330). The Singaporean specimen differs from cambodgiensis Berzins, 1973 in displaying short length of both lorica and lateral spines but longer posterior one. Vitellarium with 12 nuclei. (ref. ID; 3083)
