Organization
The Division comprises nine sections, the Research Office for Environmental Risk Science, one center and one program office. The sections are the Ecotoxicity Research Section, Environmental Exposure and Effect Research Section, Ecosystem Impact Research Section, Strategic Risk Management Research Section, Integrated Health Risk Research Section, Molecular Pathology Section, Health Effect Assessment Section, Exposure Dynamics Research Section, and Environmental Epidemiology Section. Each section promotes research ranging from basic science to project research such as strategic research programs. The Center for Environmental Standards and Measurement has two laboratories – an Environmental Standards Section and an Environmental Measurement and Analysis Section – which are responsible for fundamental work on environmental measurements, as well as for research and development. The Japan Environment and Children’ s Study (JECS) Programme Office manages and coordinates operations of this large-scale national project.
