I am deeply honored to have received the Best Presenter Award at the 11th International Conference on Low Carbon Asia for the oral presentation “Thailand's Economy-wide Implications of Delaying Carbon Emissions Peak to 2030: An NDC Pathway to Net-Zero by 2050.” This study explores the macroeconomic impacts of delaying the carbon emissions peak from the current 2025 to 2030, while pursuing net-zero emissions by 2050 or 2060, in alignment with Thailand's new conditional and unconditional Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets for 2035, respectively. This study establishes a soft-linkage between the bottom-up energy system model and the top-down computable general equilibrium (CGE) model to capture both technological and economic dimensions of decarbonization pathways. The analysis shows that delaying the emissions peak leads to higher cumulative emissions and demands steeper reductions later to achieve long-term climate targets. This recognition inspires me to further deepen my research and contribute meaningfully to Thailand's ongoing efforts toward achieving its net-zero emission goals.
