　Sophia University and the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) have, since 2006, co-organized this series of lectures to convey the current circumstances in environmental science to students and the general public.

　In Fiscal Year (FY) 2013, a series of 13 lectures over four sessions will be held with the title “NIES-Sophia environmental science lecture series – reports from the frontline of research”. Researchers active at NIES will deliver a series of easily-understandable lectures (Japanese only) on various environmental issues - from global-scale climate change, waste and radiation in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake, to familiar organisms in our surroundings and environmental health impacts.
