XU Guochang 特別研究員らがInternational Association of Natural ResourcesよりYoung Scholar Paper Awardを受賞

I am deeply honored to receive the Young Scholar Paper Award (First Prize) from the International Association of Natural Resources for our paper, Coupling Carbon Capture and Battery Circularity in Saudi Arabia’s Automotive Transition. This research explores two linked challenges in Saudi Arabia’s automotive transition: reducing near-term transport-related CO₂ emissions and preparing for future end-of-life electric vehicle batteries. We developed a scenario-based framework linking vehicle market transitions, fleet emissions, battery scrap generation, and the related infrastructure needs for CCUS and battery recycling. The results show that electrification can significantly reduce long-term emissions, but also creates a delayed wave of battery recycling demand, underscoring the need for coordinated infrastructure planning. I am very pleased that this research has gained recognition, and I want to express my gratitude to many people, especially my collaborators, for their support. I will use this honor as motivation to continue my efforts in future research and strive for even greater success.
