Theme3 - Subtheme3

Subtheme Name

Predicting and assessing of natural capital and ecosystem services of marine ecosystems based on future scenarios, while also taking climate change into consideration

Research Summary

・Assessing the effects of rising sea temperatures, ocean acidification and rising of sea levels that are associated with global environmental change on the natural capital and ecosystem services of marine ecosystems.

・Coordinating and analyzing observation data related to climate change effects, such as changes to marine organism distribution due to rising sea temperatures, in order to elucidate the responses of marine organisms to climate change.

・Assessing and projecting of the temporal variations of natural capital and ecosystem services nationwide, based on the prediction results of environmental factors in marine ecosystems and marine organism responses, through the Asian scale for the development of adaptation policy, such as the future establishment of protective zones.
