Developing an integrated model of social-ecological systems and the strengthening of the science-policy interface

Targets and summary

Targets: To provide overall management of the entire project, integration of social-ecological systems, and strengthening of the science-policy interface with the following specific objectives.

・Predict and assess future changes in population, economy and industry, land use and natural capital and ecosystem services under the 2050 Japan scenarios that take into account future climate change, ocean acidification and demographic and social changes

・Develop an integrated assessment model of social-ecological systems and propose policy options based on the scenario analysis both at the national and local scales

・Develop an integrated information platform for the prediction and assessment of natural capital and ecosystem services

・Strengthen science-policy interface in the field of biodiversity at the national scale and explore effective measures to be applied in Japan and other Asian countries
