Theme2 - Subtheme4

Subtheme Name

Evaluating natural capital and ecosystem services in the watershed and river ecosystems and the linkage with coastal ecosystems.

Research Summary

・Assessing natural capital and ecosystem services in the watershed scale, based on field observation data and ecosystem process modeling, and analyzing the impact of climate and land use change on them.

・Clarifying the impact of human alteration of the river channels and flood plains on natural capital and regulating ecosystem services in the watersheds, and developing improvement strategy options.

・Elucidating the change pattern of ecosystem services, from watershed to coastal areas, and then extracting the modifying drivers. Analyzing the cycle structure and interrelation of forests, satoyama, rivers, and the sea.
