The Health and Environmental Risk Division, one of six in the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), promotes several researches to protect human health and preserve ecosystems from environmental hazards, such as chemical contaminants. The research includes the identification of hazardous factors; clarification of effect mechanisms, environmental fate, and exposure pathways; and development of testing, measurement, prediction, environmental risk assessment and management methodologies.
