The team of GOSAT Series (Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite Series) cordially invites you to attend the 18th International Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Measurements from Space (IWGGMS-18) to be held online on 12-14 July 2022. Initially, the workshop was planned to be held in a hybrid format in Takamatsu. However, considering the ongoing COVID-19 immigration/travel restrictions in Japan and in the world, the IWGGMS-18 Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has made the final decision to hold the workshop basically online from Tsukuba, Japan, the home of NIES and JAXA.
Registration deadline has been extended to June 28.
The goal of the workshop is to review the state of the art in space-based remote sensing of carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases and related products, including:
1) Results from current missions
2) Status of / Results expected from future missions
3) Retrieval algorithms and methods for inter-instrument and product Cal/Val
4) Uncertainty quantification and bias correction techniques, including in situ measurements
5) Observations to quantify hot spots and local/urban emissions
6) Flux estimates and atmospheric inversions from space-based GHG measurements and solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF)
7) Towards an international space-based GHG emission monitoring system
8) Stakeholder needs and engagement for the Global Stocktake
Registration and abstract submission open: 31 March 2022
Final workshop format decided: 28 April 2022
Abstract submission deadline: Friday 20 May 27 May 2022
Registration deadline for those who need visa support documents*: Friday 13 May 2022
*Limited in-person attendance may be accepted at the Tsukuba venue, under the COVID-19 preventative measures at NIES. Currently, the government of Japan requires all foreign nationals to apply for a visa upon new entry to Japan except for those with re-entry permit. If you prefer in-person attendance from outside Japan, please complete the registration by Friday, May 13, 2022. We will notify attendees of their invitation to attend in person (or not) in the case that we receive more applications than we can accommodate. This decision will be made based on the roles at the workshop.
