Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Hypostomata: Order Cyrtophorida: Suborder Dysteriina (ref. ID; 2013)
Ciliophora: Cyrtophorida (ref. ID; 7549)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Body outline shape approximately oval with dorsal surface strongly arched and often longitudinally ribbed, ventral surface flattened. There is a posterior cytoplasmic spine from which a thread may be secreted for attachment purposes. Somatic ciliation severely reduced and located only on the ventral surface. The right ciliary field always consists of 4 kineties of which 3 terminate under the spine and 2 extend beyond the oral aperture. The left field of kineties is in two parts as in Dysteria not as a continuous field as in Orthotrochilia and Trochilioides. One part of the left field consists of three row lying equatorially, close to and parallel with the right field. The other part of the left field consists of 2 rows lying a short distance from the left anterior edge of the oral aperture. There is a pair of cuicumoral kineties located beyond the oral aperture. There are only two elements in the oral basket and 2 teeth are sharp. The macronucleus is large, ovoid and of the heteromeric type. There are 2 contractile vacuoles. Original description by Dujardin (1841).
