[ref. ID; 2013]
Body outline shape approximately oval, dorsal surface more strongly arched than the ventral surface which bears a posterior cytoplasmic spine. The spine contains a canal which leads to a gland which produces an adhesive secretion for fixation to a substratum. Somatic ciliation reduced and located only on the ventral surface. There are about 6 kineties of varying lengths on the right; of these 2 run the complete length of the body and curve anteriorly around the apical edge. There is a separate let field of 10-20 short kineties which originate next to the right field and these extend across the anterior ventral surface to the left side of the body beneath the oral apparatus. These ciliary rows are present in Orthotrochilia but only partly present in Trochilia and Dysteria. The elements of the oral basket are reduced to 6 stylets and 6 long teeth. The cytopharyngeal tube encircles the centrally placed macronucleus which is large, ovoid and of the heteromeric type. There are 2 contractile vacuoles.
