Class Kinetofragminophora: Subclass Vestibulifera: Order Trichostomatida (ref. ID; 2013)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Body elongate ovoid with posterior end bluntly pointed. Opening to vestibulum in anterior quarter of body which is covered in short cilia. There is a tuft of caudal cilia and a pellicular rib, bearing a series of long closely-set cilia, which originates near the vestibulum. The rib spirals clockwise down the body but does not terminate in a transverse ring. Macronucleus ovoid, contractile vacuole terminal. Most easily confused with Trichospira. In Spirozona there is no transverse pellicular ring, to trichocysts and the vestibulum entrance is more laterally positioned than in Trichospira.
