Body approximately spherical with low arch-like protoplasmic extension carrying fascicles of capitate tentacles. Body attached directly to substratum. Neither stalk nor lorica present. Reproduction by simple endogenous budding producing lentil-shaped swarmer. Macronucleus oval to band-like, not branched, not coiled. Most easily confused with Trichophrya with which it is sometimes considered to be synonymous.
