Synonym Tentaculifera Sokoloff (ref. ID; 1618)

[ref. ID; 2013]
Body shape or conical, broad and obliquely truncated at the level of the oral aperture. There is a long, tapering, spiraling neck region at the anterior end of the body. In the center of the neck lies a longitudinal unciliated ridge, armed with trichocysts, which is supported by trichites. Ciliation is complete and uniform in longitudinal rows. The contractile vacuoles are numerous and lie beneath the pellicle all over the cell surface. Macronucleus moniliform. May be distinguished from Dileptus by the spiraling neck, the way in which the unciliated ridge curves partially around the oral aperture and by the increased breadth of the body at the level of the oral aperture.
