Small oval, dorso-ventrally flattened body bearing relatively long cirri and dorsal cilia. As in Balladyna there are 2 rows of marginal cirri, and 1 midventral row. In this genus, however, there are 3 strong frontal cirri (absent in Balladyna) and the transverse cirri are orientated anterior-posteriorly arising from a straight groove. Contractile vacuole equatorial (or just anterior). Macronucleus in two parts with a single micronucleus. 2 species have been described.
