Tungsten & tungsten compounds

Tungsten and its alloys are incorporated in the production of a wide variety of products used in modern society. Favorable density, hardness, and heat resistance have promoted the use of tungsten in the production of steel, incandescent light-bulb filaments, metal-cutting tools, and common parts for an array of items. Magnesium and calcium tungstates are widely used in fluorescent lighting, whereas tungsten salts are used in the chemical and tanning industries. Tungsten polymer and all projectiles also are used in both civilians and military settings. (ref. ID; 5975)
