Pedinellales ord. nov.

Radially symmetrical cells with a single emergent flagellum. The flagellum, which carries tripartite hairs, is commonly expanded into a fin or wing, usually supported internally by a paraxial rod. The cells contain triads of microtubules, which proximally associate with the nuclear envelope. Distally the triads terminate at the cell membrane or extend from the cell into fine tentacles.

With a single family: Pedinellaceae, comprising the genera Apedinella, Pedinella, Pseudopedinella, Actinomonas, Ciliophrys, and Pteridomonas.
