Ageing virgin female Panagrellus redivivus Goodey stored large numbers of oocytes in the oviduct and uterus and did not lay unfertilized oocytes, whereas normaly copulating females stored a few oocytes in the oviduct only. The oocytes in the uterus of virgin females rapidly degenerated, while those in the oviduct remained viable for several days. Virgin females lived longer than normally copulating females and a dense material accumulated in the post-vulvar uterine sac. Female P. redivivus were capable of copulating immediately after the final moult and their ability to copulate did not decline with age.
