The only published observations on the genus Hemiselmis with the electron microscope have concentrated upon Hemiselmis rufescens Parke. Flagellar scales were reported by the present author, but no ultrastructural details for H. brunnescens Butcuer were recorded. This paper details observations on H. brunnescens and compared them with H. rufescens.
