Na+ ions induce the pinocytosis as well in the monotactic forms of Amoeba proteus as in the polytactic ones. In both cases the distinct polarity of channels formation is observed. The polar differences are better pronounced in the monotactic forms and between the isolated fragments of amoebae than in the intact polytactic cells. The uneven distribution of membrane folding on the cell surface decides about the polarity of pinocytotic channels formation.
