Notes

The fatty acid composition of eleven strains, representing six species, of Acanthamoeba have been investigated. The fatty acid profiles of the strains varied from batch to batch and at different growth temperatures to such an extent that it was not possible to distinguish between the species. As they were indistinguishable there is some justification for regarding these species as belonging to a single larger grouping.
