Notes

Janickina pigmentifera, a parasitic amoeba found in chaetognaths, is characterised, like Paramoebae, by one or more "parasomes" (Nebenkorper or Nebenkern of ancient authors). Its ultrastructure has been studied in details. The parasome is not comparable to any particular organelle, but is a symbiont probably related to Kinetoplastidea Flagellates. It is described under the name of Perkinsiella amoebae nov. gen. - nov. sp.
