Notes

The pellicle ultrastructure of an Euglenoid flagellate, Phacus horridus Pochmann, has been investigated under scanning- and transmission electron microscope and compared to Euglena spirogyra var. fusca (Klebs) Lemm. Phacus horridus shows epipellicular structured spinous corpuscules separated one from another by fine stripes perpendicular to pellicular bands. These corpuscules are very similar with their morphology to those of Euglena spirogyra var. fusca.
