Notes

Construction of an organic shell casing by a species of Difflugia in culture is described from examination by electron microscopy. Chemical analysis shows that it is composed mainly of calcium, manganese, iron and phosphorus. Experiments to show the modifications induced in the organic matrix by the inclusion of agglutinate particles are included.
