Univariate analyses of 22 stocks of four syngens of Paramecium aurelia were conducted to examine the nature and extent of variation in this organism. The problem of syngenic ascertainment by morphology alone has been solved for syngens 1, 2, 4, and 6 by means of multivariate analyses of 20 easily obtained attributes.
