A ciliate of the genus Anoplophrya Stein, 1860 is described. This ciliate was found in the middle part of the gut of the earthworm Eisenia foetida var. foetida (Savigny, 1826), and it has been studied in living conditions and under impregnation using the pyridinated silver method of Fernandez-Galiano (1976).
