Mating type differentiation in Paramecium aurelia is seen as controlled by a mechanism which makes it possible to unify the different hereditary systems described until nowadays. The "Odd" or "Even" mating types will be expressed according to the different growths of the experimental lines from sexual reorganization to maturity.
