Notes

In Tokophrya quadripartita mating type inheritance follows a pattern characteristic of determination by a single gene or chromosome. Two mating types are found. Following conjugation synclones are uniform in mating type, the 2 parental types occurring with equal frequencies. The frequencies are not affected by temperature or the age of clones at the time of mating. Mating type inheritance in T. qaudripartita closely parallels that of T. lemnarum.
