The study of the paroral formations of various hypotrichous ciliates shows that these structures do not appear, in all cases, with the classical kinetosomal arrangement: one stichomonad endoral structure and one stichomonad or polystichomonad paroral structure. The variation lies in the number of parts of the paroral formation, the kinetosomal arrangement of each part and the differentiation of the various kinetosomal segments in each part.
