Notes

The cortical surface of Stentor has two types of main structures: a) One infraciliary structure which consists of the oral infraciliature and somatic infraciliature, both formed by kinetosomes. On the frontal field and somatic surface, the kinetosomes have derivates which are bundles of postciliary microtubules. b) One myonemic system, deeper than the ciliary part, formed by an oral and somatic network which is linked to the kinetosomes.
