Cortical ultrastructure as well as buccal structural homologies (criterion of position, origin, ultrastructure) enables us to bring together in the Colpodidea group the genus Platyophrya, Woodruffia, Kuklikophrya, Cyrtolophosis, Bryophrya, Colpoda, Tillina and Bursaria.
