Cultures of Paramecium tetraaurelia were placed and fixed aboard the space orbital station Saliout-6. In addition to a marked, previously reported, stimulation of the cell proliferation activity, space flight resulted in an increase of cell volume. This phenomenon was observed at different times of the experiment and was clearly demonstrated in paramecia in division.
