Notes

Relation between the Rotifera with interesting distribution and water quality is considered. The most common species in the Palaearctic Region were not always detected in ten islands surveyed in constract to the subtropico-politan species. Brachionus rotundiformis and Hexarthra fennica were collected together with subspecies from the haline waters. Occurrence of Proalides seems to be related to saprobity of the water rather than a pH value, that of Keratella cochlearis and Syncaeta spp. to temperature. It is still far reaching to establish a sequence of cause and effect.
