The following species of Desmoscolex are described: D. amaurus sp. n., D. americanus Chitwood 1936, D. laevis Kreis 1928, D. petalodes sp. n. from the sublittoral of the North Sea, D. falcatus sp. n. from the sublittoral of the North Sea and the Baltic, D. proboscis sp. n. from the sandy shore of the North Sea, and Pareudesmoscolex papillosus (Schulz, 1934) from the sandy shore of the Baltic.
