Notes

Examination of 23 plankton samples collected by Prof.Dr. F. Gessner in the Amazonas area, showed that they contained about 100 specimens of Rotifera, including 10 new species and varieties. Each of the freshwater habitats is characterised, and the Rotifera found therein are listed. Then, descriptions of the new species and of some other remarkable specimens are given completed by geographical and ecological data. These informations are supported by 37 illustrations. The low frequency rate observed in most of the species, is a remarkable feature and might be due to scarcity of food in these waters.
