Notes

Results on the species composition of nematodes in final water, their qualitative and quantitative variation in different seasons and the possible build-up of worms on the filters during runs are given. A few observations to check whether the nematodes grow in the underdrains were made from a new water works. A maximum number of 665 worms per 4.5 liters was recorded during the rainy season in final water. Significance is attached to the appearance of such large numbers of worms in rainy season as the coliform counts are high in raw water during this period.
