Notes

The morphology and the infraciliature of 3 ciliate species which occur in activated sludge is investigated. The species descriptions base on living observations, various silver staining methods and morphometrical analysis. Thigmogaster oppositevacuolatus nov. sp., a new Chilodonellidae, is characterized by two contractile vacuoles opposed in the middle of the cell. The hypotrich ciliate, Euplotes aediculatus Pierson, 1943 and the suctorian Tokophrya quadripartita (Claparede & Lachmann, 1859), are redescribed. The swamer of T. quadripartita possesses a ciliary girdle consisting of 5 kineties and a posterior ciliary tuft consisting of 8-15 cilia.
