Descriptions

Shell broadly ovoid, compressed, covered with various-sized plates, some large, scattering, others small, filling in between the large ones. Sand grains often at the fundus. Color usually a dark violet or steel blue. Habitat Sphagnum, moss and aquatic vegetation. (ref. ID; 1923)

Length 135-180 µm. (ref. ID; 1923)
