Descriptions
Length up to 12 mm. Breadth 0.5 mm. Segments up to 51. Prostomium rounded, about as long as broad at peristomium. Clitellum on XI-0.5 XII. Setae bifid, upper tooth thinner and shorter than lower, two or three per bundles anteriorly, one posteriorly; setal length from 33-45 µm in II to 50-60 µm in V, then about constant posteriorly. One modified seta per ventral bundle of X and (or) XI, or missing where not modified; modified setae large, hollow tipped, 88-95 µm long, in large sacs. Gut diverticulae paired in IX. Male and spermathecal systems paired but with single median ventral pores just behind setae (where present) on X and XI, both pores on a median eminence, the male pore being penis-like, 120 µm across at the base, broadly conical. Vasa deferentia 600 µm long, 22 µm wide by male funnel, 35 µm near atria, joining atria apically. Atria ovoid, 290 µm x 175 µm, narrowing to ducts 60 µm in diameter. Atrial ducts run closely together to exit separately at tip of external penis-like lobe. Large prostate gland joins each atrium ventrally on a broad base. Spermathecae elongate, 350-410 µm long by 160 µm wide above the union of the duct and ampulla, arrowing at the closed end to 88 µm. Distinct spermathecal ducts 130 µm long, 70 µm in diameter. Sperm in bundles in spermathecae. The distribution of genital setae is variable in this species, those specimens with only spermathecal setae being separately from L. winckelmanni (including barnardi) by virture of the median genital pores, otherwise it is the only species penial setae.
