Hormogaster

Hormogaster Rosa (ref. ID; 6018)

Family Hormogastridae (ref. ID; 6018, 6033)

ref. ID; 6024

Circulatory apparatus: The latero-parietal vessels are absent; from the intestinal sinus arises anew a supraoesophageal vessel extending from about segment V to about segment XIII. The subneural vessel adheres to the nerve cord and runs within the coelomic space. The oesophageal hearts, each composed of seven compartments, occupy segments VII-XI of VI-XI. The supraoesophageal vessel is connected with the intestinal sinus through paired commissures. Another two thin vessels run laterally along the nerve cord in the coelomic space, resembling those observed in some Lumbricidae. (ref. ID; 6024)

Remarks

This species formerly considered a subspecies of H. pretiosa, differs from the latter because of the lesser extent of the clitellar organs, the much smaller body size and the different arrangement of the spermathecae. (ref. ID; 6018)
