Eyes absent. Needle setae distinctly different from ventral setae. Capilliform setae dorsal bundles without teeth. Body wall nacked. Hair setae present. Without proboscis. Dorsal setae beginning on IV, V or VI. (ref. ID; 1663)

Prostomium not elongated to form a proboscis. Dorsal setae not serrate along borders; without secondary annulations on segments. Without eyes, ventral setae of segments 2 to 5 only slightly different from those of the more posterior segments. Single species. (ref. ID; 1923)

Remarks
We are treating this taxon as a single variable species as suggested by Brinkhurst and Jamieson (1971), with A. inaequalis as a distinct but closely related taxon. Chaetal form and size in this material were within the usual range; the dorsal chaetae began in VI. (ref. ID; 6554)
