Family Mononchidae (ref. ID; 5938)

ref. ID; 5938

Definition

Buccal cavity longer than wide, walls thick. Dorsal tooth situated in anterior third of buccal cavity, opposed by a short denticulate rib with two small subventral teeth at the posterior (base) of this rib. Buccal cavity with a transverse rib at the level of the dorsal tooth apex. Esophagintestinal junction nontuberculate. Female didelphic, ovaries reflexed. Tail long, uniformly cylindroid tapering to a blunt indeted terminus. Caudal glands present. Male unknown. (ref. ID; 5938)

Differential diagnosis

Paramononchus n. gen. is closest to Mononchus Bastian, 1865 but differs significantly from this genus in the structure of the buccal cavity and tail terminus. (ref. ID; 5938)
