Somewhat flattened; greater part of axopodia and body covered by a thick gelatinous mantle; a central granule and an eccentric nucleus; fresh water. (ref. ID; 1618)

Emended diagnosis; Centrohelid heliozoa with the cell body covered by a mucous coat and a thick jacket of mainly tangential organic spicules. Siliceous elements in the cell envelope are absent. One species: S. fockii (Archer, 1869), emend. (ref. ID; 4879)

Cells 18-30 um in diameter, surrounded by a dense mucous coat, ca. 6 um in width. Spicules are tangential or subtangential, ca. 30-40 um in length, thin, uniform width, tapering towards sharp apices. Fresh water. (ref. ID; 4879)
