Uroglenopsis

Uroglenopsis Lemmermann (ref. ID; 1618)

[ref. ID; 1618]
Similar to Uroglena, but individuals without inner connecting processes. (ref. ID; 1618)

[ref. ID; 3490]
Numerous minute cells having a chromatophore and an eye-spot are radially arranged in a single layer in the gelatinous substance of a spherical colony. (ref. ID; 3490)
  1. Uroglenopsis americana Calkins (ref. ID; 1618, 3490)
  2. Uroglenopsis europaea Pascher (ref. ID; 1618)

Uroglenopsis americana Calkins (ref. ID; 1618, 3490)

Descriptions

Each cell with 1 chromatophore; when present in abundance, the organism gives an offensive odor to the water. (ref. ID; 1618)
Each cell of the colony is broadly rounded in the posterior end and contains a single chromatophore, a contractile vacuole and an eye-spot. (ref. ID; 3490)

Measurements

5-8 um long; flagellum up to 32 um long; colony up to 300 um in diameter. (ref. ID; 1618)
The largest colony was 280 um in diameter. (ref. ID; 3490)

Uroglenopsis europaea Pascher (ref. ID; 1618)

Descriptions

Similar to the U. americana; but chromatophores 2. (ref. ID; 1618)

Measurements

Cells up to 7 um long; colony, 150-300 um in diameter. (ref. ID; 1618)
