The cells are ovoid to be rounded broadly in the anterior end without an eye-spot and are radially united to form a spherical or ovoid colony with a gelatinous substance. The periplast of the cell is covered with siliceous scales having minute spines. (ref. ID; 3490)

Description; Scales elliptic, 3.4-4.2 x 2.6 um large with a long spine (2.2-3.0 um in length) terminating in two small teeths. Probably cold water species. (ref. ID; 4822)
